The brief

Many of our clients can claim to be in the business of making money, but none more so than De La Rue. They literally create the stuff, producing 150 national currencies along with a wide range of paper security features such as watermarks and holograms. When we started working with De La Rue in 2006, our brief was to come up with a look and feel that could endure consistently over a series of reports, and appeal to a no-nonsense audience of investors and brokers.

The solution

The visual language we developed for De La Rue’s reports borrows from the world of money, with simple, bold type in tints that recall the multi-coloured hues of paper bank notes. Inside, the reports have a pared-down visual style that emphasises clarity of information over design gimmickry. Designed to be replicated easily, this look and feel was reproduced across consecutive reports over several years, reinforcing the sense of a stable company focused on long-term goals.
