The brief

The International Airlines Group (IAG) was formed in January 2011 through the merger of two major European airlines, BA and Iberia. Our task was to create a confident corporate identity for the new holding company that would be easily recognised and understood throughout the world, as the newly formed company looks for new acquisitions and mergers to consolidate the industry.

The solution

Developing a logo that would work in an international context called for careful consideration of the use of graphic symbols and colours. By avoiding colour in favour of grey tones, our identity transcends national boundaries and creates a business-like, timeless appeal. The logotype itself is given a striking visual edge with the use of a tailfin shape to form a stylised ‘A’.
